I am a Modern Woman.

Today, I was thinking about the meaning of modern. What is our outlook towards the word MODERN, how we take modernization or a modern woman. In this regard I kept on thinking about this word and I found it quite difficult to understand this word, actually I was failed to figure out this word. So, to clear up my mind, I started to explore the meaning of this complex word through various sites of dictionaries. The meanings of this word I found are contemporary, ahead of times, current, up to date and these meanings actually made me more curious to think of. Are these actually the exact meanings which we take in our day today life? And the answer was a clear and big NO. Because according to our perspective, the word modern describes us the picture of the lady wearing the shorter clothes they can deal with. The shorter the clothes, the more you will be called as MODERN.

The Modern Women for our society.

When a woman with a proper Hijab and a woman with jeans and top, standing together; whom the society will call Modern? Definitely the jeans one, let me take an example of my own self, wearing proper hijab along with Irani chadar, who will call me the modern? I don’t think even a single person will do so. Because for us, modernization means to expose oneself, flaunt of beauty and body. And a woman with a complete covers of Hijab is an antiquated and outmoded woman not more than that.

The Modern Women for me

But I consider myself as a manifestation of modern woman because I am educated, well-mannered, refined, leading a successful career under an international network. I am a modern woman without skirts, jeans and tops, with clear face no fake layers of makeup, conceal with Hijab, self-confident enough to tackle with the society. I am a modern woman without any exposure, a woman who has a job, familiar of the taxes which I have to pay, well aware of the political and economic scenarios, the circumstances our society is dealing with, a woman who drives around the town. I belong to a “moral brigade”, I am a  Modern Pakistani Woman.

Though a human but not considered as.

The face which suffers the taunts of society

Eunuch an alienated gender of the society; portrait with the layers of make-up; enveloping the profound obscurity under the shimmer of shades, the subject of mock for common men, victim of ridiculous taunts and rags. A cast of people with no esteem and reverence, leading their lives with the very low margins of society, earn their living with begging, dancing and most frequently with prostitution as the easiest way to earn a life. They use to roam on the signals with the “taali” gestures and with the high nod of “haye baji”, “kuch de do”.

I feel so depress when I look upon them, they are humans they must have civil liberties to lead a happy life as a common men does. But in Pakistan there is nothing for them, cannot live a prosper life n with all this stuff the derogatory and offensive attitude of our people and cops. We feel it as our official right to taunt them specially the young boys of the society. This little community is suffering prejudice for many years, having no laws for their security and shelter. Our so called NGO’s scream for their rights but in actually their screams is a hype for their associations not for any comfort and relieve.

Another dilemma for them

Many of the Tv shows talk about such tabooed issues but the outcome is null. They have words in their pockets to console them and show sympathy towards the third sex but have nothing in their hands to act upon and on the whole our government is a hushed observer, have nothing in their stores for this pitiable group of people.

We should not treat them in such a scorning manner they are human beings, a creature of Almighty, is it their fault they born like this? Are they responsible for the structure they have been endowed by the ALLAH? They have equal rights to live the life of a common person though they have some peculiarities but still they are humans and deserve the same attitude which the general people worth.

Who is a sufferer??

Despite of the high inflation rate in Pakistan the common things which we use to witness in our city of lights Karachi, is a long queue of people waiting outside of the restaurants. And these places are loaded with foodies and epicures. Now a day this has become a very fine and considerable business in the streets of Karachi. Every next street is a food street there. This can easily be estimated through the notable and upgrading chains of restaurants from all around the world. Now, here a question arises, who is suffering with this inflation rate? People who are standing outside of the restaurant in the queue or the people who are paying a huge amount of money in high class buffet restaurants. Is it a justice with rest of the people and with oneself? Aren’t we suppose to look after the needy people of our society who are deprived of many necessities, struggling for their food and provisions and most of them are still fail to do so. Therefore we are leading a very unjustified society.

Proud to be a BURGER….

In Karachi, every person is running a race towards modernization and this race leading people to be called as a BURGER. And this phenomenon had really made me curious. This curiosity came to an end when some years before I read an article at Dawn news PROUD TO BE A BURGER. In this article that writer disclosed very bleak truths about this class and unveiled them. It was a satire on their traditions and society. To attain this so called status and grace they have forgot their mother tongue, their ethnicity, their culture, traditions, civilization, conventions, rituals, ethics, moral codes and even their own religion. After ignoring and disregarding such stuffs they have reached their goal to be called as BUGER.

A QUESTION

Don’t we have a true right to obtain basic needs of life? A question which many of innocent eyes do ask everyday at traffic signals, outside of many restaurants and even of many dhabas . Shelter, food and clothes considered as the basic needs but in our so called modern and advanced society many of the people are still seeking to shape up their lives. Many of the authorities and people in power ask the people to remove starvation and all. But are they getting over the problem and the answer in no. still today many of the people are dying because of starvation and hunger. But ignoring all these drastic problems people still use to say that they are leading a modern society because they become sightless to see the troubles, faced by the deprived people of Pakistan. So here is a question arise that what should we call our society where people are still not acquiring the basic needs? A dumb society, a reckless society or a negligent society, Choice is yours what do u wants to call out your selves??
